 Hello all!

I have been working on a presentation on artificial intelligence for the fall ITEC.  The presentation is "Artificial Intelligence: More Than a Pretty Database". It is amazing how quickly resources that have been used in the past are evolving because of open source ai!  If you have used Canva and Padlet, these now have AI connected to their platforms.  Just a note, as of September of this year, Flip will no longer be accessible.  However, Padlet will allow students to record video presentations and take the place of Flip.  In addition, Jamboard will no longer exist, but again, Padlet has you covered!  I hope to see you at the Fall ITEC conference!

I am so sorry that it has been several years since I have blogged!  We have gone through a pandemic, and I have worn many hats since the last time I shared information.  The last time I wrote I was a 6th grade language arts teacher.  Right around the time of the pandemic a 6th grade social studies position opened and if you know me, I love to learn, and our world is a social ocean.  I was granted the position providing I completed my endorsement before the end of the year.  In 4 months' time, I completed 21 credits...all were fascinating classes in social studies.  I also continued to teach a 7am Spanish class but a second section.  I was also asked to be the secondary social studies curriculum coach due to my background knowledge with curriculum work.  I enjoyed teaching and learning from the students and adults in each of these realms...and then other events fell into place.

Starting this fall (2024), I will be the K-12 teacher librarian for Charles City.  Yes, I was offered the elementary teacher librarian in Charles City three years ago but the timing wasn't right but the position was always in the back of my mind.  I am looking forward to bringing my curriculum, technology, and reading skills for the students and staff of Charles City!

Learn something new--always!

Today was a fun day.  During this time, not only do I continue sharing review practice for students and continue book clubs, but I have been able to take time to learn new things for myself.  I have looked at online whiteboards that students and I can engage in simultaneously.  Through the sharing of a few of these with staff and our tech dude, our tech dude told me of another to try...Miro.  So, today I had the opportunity to use this with a few students and my principal but the neatest thing was to be on Google Hangouts at the same time.  So, not only did we collaborate, but we could have a discussion as we were collaborating just like we were in our classroom but with a newfound technology application to use in the future.  "Learn something new.  Try something different.  Convince yourself that you have no limits" (Brian Tracy, 2013).
